Especially during their growing season, from April to October, rhododendrons can use some extra fertilizer. It gives them a real boost and builds up their resilience before the winter.

Here are some tips:

  • Rhododendrons prefer slow-releasing fertilizers. Don’t provide too much fertilizer in one go, especially not during dry, hot periods.
  • Sprinkle the fertilizer granules evenly around the trunk, then gently rake them in.
  • Finish by applying a mulch layer of leaf compost and peat or compost.
  • Water regularly to prevent the soil from drying out during the days and weeks that follow.
